Is this worth an upgrade from a amazon firestick?

One question I have is that it can with the Kodi 17.0 krypton and every now and then I get a message saying that I need to update it because there is another version available.
Is this hard to do? I really need some guidance.

How do I update it? If I go to the play store and type kodi the only options I have is to uninstall or open :-(
