How to change DNS Servers on ANY ANDROID TV device | SONY BOX STICK

Changing DNS servers on Android TV devices, like a SONY TV, Xiaomi Mi Box S, Mi TV Stick, Nvidia Shield TV, Google TV or any Android TV Box and Android TV in general is quite easy, you just need to find the device’s IP and also the Gateway IP. This may sound difficult to most people but by using a free app we can find both.

You can use whichever DNS Servers you prefer, those that I personally find faster though are:
Google DNS: 8.8.8.8 – 8.8.4.4
Cloudflare DNS: 1.1.1.1 – 1.0.0.1

What is Domain Name System or DNS?

A Domain Name System (DNS) represents a system of interconnected servers that store registered domain names and Internet Protocol (IP) addresses. Computers talk to each other using IP addresses. Since humans cannot memorize thousands of strings of numbers, we have to use domain names instead of IP addresses. It is much easier to remember and type http://www.youtube.com into your browser than http://173.194.77.104. So DNS keeps the record of all domain names and the associated IP addresses. When you type in a URL in your browser, DNS resolves the domain name into an IP address. There are faster and slower DNS providers. Typically, the DNS provided by your ISP is slow. DNS speeds are not a priority for them, and it shows. For DNS providers, however, it’s all about speed. With multiple, global points of presence (PoP), they can also deliver high-speed lookups for both your home and remote offices.

Faster Android TV – NVIDIA Shield Xiaomi Philips SONY Toshiba TVs

3 tips to make a Faster Android TV device like the Nvidia Shield TV, Xiaomi Mi Box S, TV Stick, and any Android TV like SONY, Toshiba, Philips, TCL, and more!

#fasterandroidtv #slowandroidtv #tips

With these 3 tips you can make your Android TV device way faster. Especially when you use a low-end device or your TV is bloated with apps from your manufacturer like some cheap Android TVs.

The first tip is to always use an Ethernet cable to connect to your router/internet. In case that is not possible, you can use a USB Hub with Ethernet.
Second, try to clear the Home of Android TV from unnecessary widgets. If you do not use for example an app like Rakuten or similar, simply remove it. It will free RAM and resources.
Third and most important of all, use the Background Apps and Process List to remove apps from auto-starting on the first boot of your device/TV. You will be surprised by how many applications start without your knowledge at every restart. This is a neat way to close apps that are not needed and that only consume an amount of your RAM.

Android 10 On Android TV

Android 10 is out and Google has kept its promise as of this September announcing Android 10 on Android TV until the end of the year. After taking a while for Android 9 Pie in order to arrive also on Android TV devices, this time Google delivered in time the latest version of Android. As Android TV becomes day by day more popular so is Google’s plans for the platform.

“When Android TV was first introduced in 2014, we set out to bring the best of Android into the connected home on the TV,” Google wrote in their Android TV OS blog post. “We worked closely with the developer community to grow our content and app ecosystem and bring users the content they want. Since then, we’ve seen tremendous momentum with OEM and operator partners as well as consumer adoption worldwide.”

Nexus Player Evolution – The ADT-3

To make sure developers have the ability to build and test Android TV app implementations on Android 10 prior to rollout, Google introduced a new, developer-focused streaming media device called ADT-3.

With a quad-core A53, 2GB of DDR3 memory and 4Kp60 HDR HDMI 2.1 output, Google designed this pre-certified TV dongle with updates and security patches to help developers design for the next generation of Android TV devices. That is extremely helpful for third-party manufacturers like Nvidia, Xiaomi, Sony, etc but also for app developers. But do not expect to be able to get one as a consumer. The super small device is only for developers. And as more and more people are wishing for a Pixel TV device, for now the only real device that delivers all the latest updates is still the Nvidia Shield TV.

Downloader App for Android TV devices like the Nvidia Shield TV, Xiaomi Mi Box, Sony TV, Philips, TCL, etc is back on the Google Play Store. But finding the Downloader app is a little tricky right now. So in this video I will show you how to easily find the Downloader app and install it on your Android TV device. And if it is the first time you use the Downloader application and you are new to the Android TV world, I will also show you how to install an application, sideload to be exact. In this example I’m gonna use the Puffin TV Browser, the fixed version that can still download files on your Android TV device.

The link I used for the Puffin TV Browser that can download files on Android TV: http://dimitrology.com/puffintv

Google Dislikes Sideload

The thing is that Google doesn’t want users to sideload apps anymore. They made it clear that they do not like apps that give users the ability to download apps outside from the Google Play Store for Android TV. That means that also the new version of Downloader may be at risk. My personal advice, hurry up to get it before it’s gone again!
