In the specific, you will not find the app icon on your Android TV home screen, you will not even find the sideloaded application inside your App drawer. In this tutorial, I am gonna show you how to add to your Android TV Home Screen any app that you sideloaded.

Why sideload apps? Even though the Android TV Play Store has a lot of applications, there are a lot more applications that are designed to be used on smartphones and tablets. So you will need to download and install them on your Android TV device (TV or streaming device like the Nvidia Shield TV, Mi Box S, etc.).

With these 3 tips you can make your Android TV device way faster. Especially when you use a low-end device or your TV is bloated with apps from your manufacturer like some cheap Android TVs.

The first tip is to always use an Ethernet cable to connect to your router/internet. In case that is not possible, you can use a USB Hub with Ethernet.
Second, try to clear the Home of Android TV from unnecessary widgets. If you do not use for example an app like Rakuten or similar, simply remove it. It will free RAM and resources.
Third and most important of all, use the Background Apps and Process List to remove apps from auto-starting on the first boot of your device/TV. You will be surprised by how many applications start without your knowledge at every restart. This is a neat way to close apps that are not needed and that only consume an amount of your RAM.

The Free IPTV project is the collective work of users from all over the world in order to create a free-to-everyone accessible m3u playlist with legally receivable IPTV channels. The project is open to everyone who wants to contribute, as long as the streams are not illegal. Every playlist is in a .m3u format and it is updated several times a week. Inside you will find a crazy amount of channels, including a huge list from the USA with entertainment, music, Roku, Pluto, and local channels as well as a complete list of every country like Canada, UK, Australia, Germany, France, Greece and more! The list was originally created in order to work with KODI and the IPTV Simple PVR add-on so some channels, very few to be exact, may need the YouTube add-on on KODI.

How To Use The Free Legal IPTV Lists

You can select a specific IPTV list for the country/countries you are interested in or the last list named ZZ_Playlist_all in order to have all channels available from all over the world. The All in one playlist can be also be used with the https://is.gd/freeiptvall shortlink so it is easier to add on any app. Most Android applications will categorize each country and also add the channel logo for an eye-candy operation. If you want to stream the channels on Windows, Linux, or macOS you can do so with a player that supports m3u streaming like the VLC media player. On Android, I recommend using IPTV Smarters Pro which is totally free too. Just select to add an M3U List when asked and the app will handle everything for you. You can also use KODI, as mentioned above, with the Simple IPTV PVR add-on on any device that is compatible.

In order to install apps from unknown sources or sideload apk on the Chromecast with Google TV, you need to enable developer settings.

In order to become a developer, simply go into Settings, System, About, Android TV Version Build and click 5-8 times. Then you will have developer access to your device.

Then Go back to System, Apps, Security & Restrictions, Unknown Sources and enable the option for the specific app you wish to install unknown apps.

As easy as that, you have successfully enabled your Chromecast with Google TV to install Android applications from unknown sources!
