The brand new A95X R2 TV box is a budget solution for someone that doesn’t want to spend a lot but also needs a new, solid device. With a very low cost, just $41.16 / €36.63 / £32.75 you get a fairly good device. It comes with Android 7.1 out of the box and powered by the 64bit RK3328 Quad-Core CPU by Rockchip clocked at 1.5GHz as well as an ARM Mali-450MP2. Just with 1GB of RAM and 8GB or internal storage but at least for the second part on Android 7 you can set as internal storage any USB drive / external hard disk or SD card. Speaking of USB, other than 2 x USB 2.0 the A95X R2 comes also with a USB 3.0 so you can connect any fast hard drive for optimal speeds!

The front side of the device is replaced by a big LED display with the clock and various major functions with a gentle blue color light, so it is perfect also as a bedroom TV Box since it will not give you excessive annoyance when sleeping. What is also good is the physical presence of an ON / OFF power button, also on the front side. The case is in plastic but of good quality and overall the feeling is not of a budget device. Other than the 3 USBm we also have an HDMI 2.0 for real 4K at 60 fps, an optical output, Ethernet 10/100M, AV out and DC in.

With just 1GB of RAM you will not have a crazy performance in Android gaming. But that is not the issue if you are using KODI or Android apk’s for Live TV / Streaming content. The A95X R2 has a very good performance, especially when using the RKMC (Rockchip’s media player, a perfect fork of KODI with the Rockchip optimal drivers and support). Comes with Google Playstore already pre-installed and with a pretty good launcher.
